配合國內外無線及網際網路通訊產業需求,研究開發新一代影音壓縮及傳輸技術。近年來研究主題包括物件導向視訊壓縮、合成及自然混合編碼、無線影像傳輸等。所開發出來的技術已被採納在MPEG-4及JPEG-2000國際標準中。目前著手於最佳化視訊編碼器、媒體資料流網路構、數位攝影機、數位電視等研究設計。

Dr. Chen's research
interests lie in the broad area of multimedia processing and
communications. He has done pioneering work in object-based
video, synthetic and natural hybrid coding, error-resilient image
transmission, content delivery networks, and machine
vision. He
has actively contributed to the development of MPEG-4 and JPEG-2000
standards. His current
research work targets optimal video codec, streaming media delivery,
digital camcorder, and wireless digital home TV applications.
