See-May Phoong (M’96) was born in Johor, Malaysia, in 1968. He received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the National Taiwan University (NTU), Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C., in 1991 and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Pasadena, California, in 1992 and 1996, respectively.
He was with the Faculty of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, from September 1996 to September 1997. In September 1997, he joined the Graduate Institute of Communication Engineering and the Department of Electrical Engineering, NTU, as an Assistant Professor, and since August 2001, he has been an Associate Professor.
Dr. Phoong has previously served as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Signal Processing Letters (March 2002--Feb. 2005) and the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Analog and Digital Signal Processing (Jan. 2002 -- Dec. 2003). He is currently serving as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Trans. Circuits and Systems, Part I. His interests include multirate signal processing, filter banks and their application to communications. He received the Charles H. Wilts Prize (1997) for outstanding independent research in electrical engineering at Caltech.
