The Undergraduate school of the Department of Electrical Engineering start to recruit new students , after entering the undergraduate school ,students are divided into two teaching groups , namely ,Communication and electric power , the first lot of graduated students contain 5 persons in the Communication group and 25 students in the electric power group . |

The College of Electrical Engineering is founded ,the Department and Graduate Institute of Electrical Engineering, Graduate Institute of Electro-Optical Engineering, and the Communication Research Center which originally belong to the College of Engineering is then belong to College of Electrical Engineering. The first Dean of the College : professor Powen Hsu （ 1997.8~ 2003.7 ） . The M.S. and Ph.D. in the Graduate Institute of Communication Engineering is founded , it is divided into three groups for the recruitment, namely, Electromagnetic Wave group , Communication group and Signal processing group for recruitment , the M.S. and Ph.D. programs in the two groups, namely, Electromagnetic Wave group and Communication and signal processing group .Graduate Institute of Electrical Engineering is then transferred to the Graduate Institute of Communication Engineering for recruitment . |

Help student to found the NTU branch of IEEE, Dean Hsu is the first Councilor ,it is the first student branch of IEEE nationwide . |

This College hold the first evaluation and the election of good teachers for teachers in the whole College . This College hold the first ”Venture Forum ”, in the mean time , the Department of Electrical Engineering set up medal for “excellent department alumni” , the president himself issues the medals to three department alumni, namely, Richard M. Hong , Robert H.C. Tsao, Barry Lam , and Barry Lam was assigned as the lecturer of the first speech . Intel Foundation donates to the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering to set up respective “Network Multimedia Lab”. |

The Department of Electrical Engineering and the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering starts to recruit students for the Bachelor program . |

The “academic forum”was first held by this College , S.M. Sze was the lecturer , and the principal at NTU awards “the excellent department alumni award ” medal for Department of Electrical Engineering to the lecturer. |

Our College was approved by the Ministry of Education for the first term of ”Development plan for pursuing excellence in the academic research of the University”. Project name : Advanced Technologies for Telecommunications . The project leaders are: professor Chun-Hsiung Chen (The chief leaders), professor Jingshown Wu and professor Lin-Shan Lee . |

The library branch of College of Engineering is moved into the new head library on Nov. 1998,the left space rebuild is completed , at this moment , the Department of Electrical Engineering Building II is returned in whole to be used by all the units in this College . Eastern Multimedia Co. Ltd. Donates this College to hold a “NTU-Eastern Multimedia broadband network forum”.The first lecture was started by professor Hsiang- Tsung Kung who is the member of the Bill Gates Forum in Harvard University:Services over the Internet. |

The Ministry of Education agrees the proposal by this College for “Barry Lam Hall” and “Der-Tian Building” , all the fund of the construction will be self-collected （ July 20, 2000, Ministry of Education Tai(2000) Kao(3) Tzu-Ti No. 89090112 approval ） . |

The College of Electrical Engineering was renamed to “College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science”, in the mean time , the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering in the College of Engineering is transferred to belong to College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and the information academic cluster is founded at the same time, the Departments and Graduate Institute in the original College of Electrical Engineering were combined to form an electrical engineering academic cluster . The undergraduate school of the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering is increased to two classes in the recruitment . The VLSI/CAD group and electronic circuit group in the Graduate Institute of Electrical Engineering are combined to be Integrated Circuit and System group （ ICS group ） . President Barry Lam of Quanta Computer agrees the request of Dean Hsu to fund all the construction capital need of the College of Electrical Engineering and computer Science Building . |
