Born in Hong Kong, Wing Kit Choi received his B.Eng. degree from University of London in 1994 and his Ph.D. degree from University of Cambridge in 1998, both in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. His Ph.D. research (Photonics) at Cambridge was related to high speed liquid crystal electro-optic effects & devices for use in telecommunication systems.

After his Ph.D., he joined the Unipac Optoelectronics (now AUO), Taiwan as a Research and Development Engineer for about two years. At Unipac, he was responsible for the development of advanced liquid crystal technologies for liquid crystal displays (TFT-LCDs). After Unipac, he joined CREOL, University of Central Florida (UCF), US as a Research Scientist. At UCF, he worked with Prof. S.T. Wu on a number of projects related to TFT-LCDs and optical communications and had several original invention disclosures & Patents during that period. In 2004, he returned to Taiwan and joined EE/GIEOE, National Taiwan University as an Assistant Professor. His current research interests include Transflective, fast-response and wide-viewing-angle TFT-LCDs.
