Admission Information
◎Welcome!
As the most prestigious institution of higher education in Taiwan with the longest history and most diverse academic programs, National Taiwan University has taken up the responsibility of promoting and advancing academic research and teaching in Taiwan. With emphasis on scholarly research in fundamental theory and atmosphere of free academic thought, NTU has always excelled and achieved outstanding results.
The Department of Electrical Engineering (NTUEE) was first established in 1945. Since then it has been expanded to four Graduate Institutes: Electrical Engineering, Electro-Optical Engineering, Communication Engineering, and Electronics Engineering. The research fields include power system, automatic control, computer science, biomedical engineering, electro-optics, communication and signal processing, electromagnetic waves, nano-electronics, integrated circuit and systems and electronic design automation. The department not only provides a perfect research environment with renowned faculty, but also brings in many top students.
◎The Program:
In order to promote scientific and technological competitiveness, this program supports the innovation and development of technological industries in Taiwan. Approved by the Ministry of Education, this program, led by both NTU and cooperating industrial partners, will train international students in these fields and encourage the cooperative partners to offer job opportunities to outstanding students.
◎Program Schedule: Maximum of two years.
◎Qualifications: Applicants must meet all of the following criteria.
- Foreign student admission is only for applicants who do not have the overseas Chinese status and do not hold a Republic of China passport1. A foreign national who held R.O.C. nationality within the past eight years is not eligible for this application2.
- Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent by Sept. 2007 from a foreign university or independent institute.
- TOEFL is required for all applicants whose first language is not English.
﹡Note: Foreign students who have already completed a high school degree program or have been expelled by a university or college in ROC are not eligible to apply for this admission. Any violation immediately results in cancellation of admission or the loss of recognition as NTU registered student.
◎Financial Aid:
The program costs and fees are partially subsidized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Education.
- Tuition will be waived and NTD 8000 (approx. USD 250) per month will be offered for two years for admitted applicants without other scholarship.
- Other scholarship may be awarded based on the student’s academic performance after enrollment.
- There are also work study opportunities for international students.
- Students are responsible for the remaining expenses, including transportation, books, dormitory, living expenses, etc. (Students with awarded scholarship have to pay their tuition.)
