~林茂昭博士之主要研究領域為錯誤更正碼以及其在通訊系統上之應用。最近之方向及成果包括有：
1. 短區塊碼之解碼 : 在樹狀解碼時利用預先得知的檢查位元資訊以增加解碼速度。另外也設計方法大幅降低解碼所需的Stack size。
2. OFDM峰均比 : 以刻意翻轉位元加上錯誤更正碼以舒解OFDM的峰均比問題。
3. 猛禽碼 : 設計具低解碼複雜度的猛禽碼。
Research Summary:
~The Major research area of Mao-Chao Lin is error-correction codes and its applications to communication system. Recent interesting results include：
1. Decoding of short block codes : We employ the advanced information of parity bits to increase the decoding speed of tree decoding. We also propose methods to significantly reduce the stack size.
2. PAPR Reduction : We employ deliberate bit flipping and error-correcting codes to relieve the PAPR problem in OFDM systems.
3. Raptor codes : We design Raptor codes with low decoding complexity.
