The main research focus of Professor Wu's group, the advanced electromagnetics modeling and design group, is the exploration and advancement of field computation, circuit modeling, and design technology to meet the leading edge electromagnetic development and innovation for the next generation semiconductor electronics, wireless communication, radar and sensing industry. There are three major ongoing sub-topics under this long term goals:
- millimeter-wave transceiver module design and system integration for wireless communication applications, including filters, transitions, multilayer passive circuits, and system integration.
- modeling and design for electric performance of electronic packaging, including wideband equivalent circuit establishment, parameter extractions, signal and power integrity analysis, and
- development of associated computational electromagnetics techniques, including FDTD for multi-scale systems, optimization by genetic algorithm, and so on.
